...of a little girl who wanted to write...
I wrote my first short story when I was 8 or 9 years old sitting on the floor, hunched over my mother’s typewriter and painstakingly hitting each key one at a time until five pages later I had something I could show my mom. She loved it (of course - which mom wouldn’t love their kid’s first attempt at writing something, spelling mistakes and all).
Since that day I’ve always wanted to write, but life happens when you’re trying to make plans. I studied after school, started my first job, met my first boyfriend, moved to a big city, fell in love again, had a baby, then looked back and realized I’d written nothing.
Then, I resigned from my job and moved from Johannesburg to Cape Town in 2017. It took me 6 months to write my first book (a collection of short stories); from writing the words to formatting Word to be able to offer a paperback version to designing my cover. I first followed local authors, soaked up their advice, and followed international authors to see how they did things. Then I hit that publish button that leaves one feeling slightly nauseous at first, but once it loads and the book gets accepted and ready to be bought, the nerves turn into something wonderful.

I started my new day job, which took up a lot of my time, but writing stayed in the back of my mind. In 2019, I spent all my free time writing and published my first full-length novel in my urban fantasy series (Ulysses Exposed). And I’ve written a few books since then.
But I never forgot about my first book and how it helped shape me and to cope with the death of my mother (I dedicated the book to her). What’s for Dinner? features 4 bite-sized short stories about death, whether they died by someone else’s hands, their own, or something evil.

And not forgetting the evolution of the cover; from my first attempt at cover design to buying a cover and then my publisher, Vinci Books, creating something dangerously beautiful.
And I couldn’t be prouder looking back from where I first started till now.

Indulge in a chilling feast—a gastronomic journey into the darkest corners of the mind.
